Man charged in Winton suspicious death

A man has been charged after the suspicious death of a 38-year-old Western Australian woman nearWinton on Saturday.

Police were called to Bladenburg National Park on Saturday to investigate the suspicious death of a woman.

A 39-year-old man called police toa campground in Bladensburg National Park,30km fromWinton, around 3am on Saturday where they found the woman who was already dead.

Police say theman, known to the woman, was taken into custody and charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm whilearmed.

The man is due to appear in the Longreach Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The man and woman are both from Kununurra, Western Australiaand were believed to have been holidaying together.

Investigations into the woman’s death are continuing and police are awaiting the outcome of a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
